  • Does not rely on any external evidence or any sense experiences
  • Is called an a priori argument, because it occurs prior to the need for any experience of the world
  • The basic strategy of this argument is to show that the proposition 'God exists' is true by definition. The idea is that once we properly understand the concept of God, we will see that it necessarily includes the idea of existence. This is the same as if you properly understand the meaning of the word bachelor, you will also understand that the man in question is male and unmarried - it just makes up part of the definition of the word.   • With this argument, anyone who denies the existence of God simply doesn't understand what the word God actually means.
